( One reporter can sit in the media box AT A TIME) 1. one reporter/ photographer/for a media.
This is with reference to the venue-specific applications for media accreditation, which you must have received / will be receiving for the AIRTEL ODI series between India and England. We have had several telecons on the issue of the lists of applicants, over the past few days, as you are aware. It is important that the BCCI’s policy pertaining to Media Accreditation be followed strictly while processing the applications, and deciding whom to approve or reject. The guidelines are already with you. Among the many things they state, is that only one REPORTER AND PHOTOGRAPHER of a print organization should be accredited (NATIONAL publications are allowed two REPORTERS), and only one PAIR (REPORTER + CAMERAPERSON) of a news channel should be accredited, PER MATCH. Websites, radio stations, electronic news agencies and production houses should not be accredited. In other words, ONLY representatives of NEWSPAPERS AND MAGAZINES (PRINT), and genuine TV NEWS CHANNELS (who are known to cover local, domestic and international cricket consistently) should be accredited. Suggest you work in the following way: Most of the media applications that you will receive, will be from local and regional media outlets. You are best placed to determine the authenticity of the organizations that have applied. You can decide on the approvals / rejections, taking the guidelines into account. Some of the ‘approved’ organizations may have sent multiple applications. You can decide which ONE from among the four or five applicants, will cover the match. The guidelines clearly mention that the BCCI has the right to ask for additional information / evidence of published work. Kindly do so, in cases where you may not be sure about an organization that has applied for accreditation. Once all this is done, each of you should fine-tune / edit the list, and compile a final list. This final list can then be sent to us, and we can then discuss any issues that may arise from the same. This will save a lot of time, as you would have fine-tuned the list already.
