KCA INTER SCHOOL TOURNAMENT Kerala Cricket Association hereby announces the completion of State Championship of third All Kerala Inter School tournament 2012 on 1st February- 2013. The finals of KCA inter-school tournament played at Victoria College ground palakkad on February 1st 2013 between St Mary school pattom and St Geroge high school Edapally and St marys high school emerged as winners . And the Winners are awarded with a cash of Rs.25,000 and Rs.15,000 for the runner-up. There are cash awards and mementos for all individual performances including a bicycle worth Rs.5000 for the Man of the tournament. The Tournament kicked-off in early October 2012 and a total of 994 schools took part in the first Level of the tournament which was played in 48 centres across the state. Winners and Runner-up of each level progressed to subsequent levels of the competition. The second level the tournament was played in all major district headquarters. District Champions and district runners-up progressed to the zonal level which was played at Malappuram, Trissur and Kottayam respectively. Winners and runner-up of each zone qualified for the state championship and they will play for the KCA ever rolling trophy and cash awards. Schools featured in the state championship include Tharakan HSS Angadipuram, Assumption HSS Bathery, Kalladi HSS Palakkad, St. George Edapally, St.Marys Pattom and SCS Tiruvalla. Winners and Runner-up of Level 1 were awarded with Cricket Kits worth Rs.12,000 and Rs.9000 each. Winners of district level were awarded Rs.10000 cash plus ever rolling trophy and Rs.5000 cash plus ever rolling trophy for the runner-up. Winners of zone level were awarded a cash prize of Rs.15000 and Rs.10000 for the runner-up. All individual performances of the tournament are awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000 plus memento. The main objective behind conducting this tournament is to give exposure for school children and a door opener for them to announce their presence in the cricketing world. Selectors have spotted the best talents of this tournament and they are shortlisted for cricket academies and junior district teams in each district to shape them as future cricketers. There are 22 cricket academies in the state comprising of 15 district academies, two women academies and five senior state academies. Trainees are offered top notch cricketing facilities along with free food and accommodation for developing their cricketing and behavioural aspects. KCA school tournament 2012 is a stepping stone for every budding cricketer as their career path progresses from School tournament to district academy and from District Academy to Sr. State Academy and finally to College Academy which is in the pipeline. KCA’s main objective behind setting up these academies is nothing short of developing cricketers who could represent the country in the next five years.
